"Dreams of Dynamite and Divinity"

Former Baby Chaos boys strike gold again!

Carrying on where Baby Chaos left off, current incarnation Deckard play the kind of pop-punk that there really should be another word for to avoid comparisons with Sum 41, Good Charlotte et al. It is hooky, catchy and packed to the brim with sunshiny pop melodies but there Is nothing disposable about Deckard. Influences such as The Pixies and Weezer, topped off with a healthy dose of Cheap Trick, shine through on tracks like the wistful 'Be Nobody Else' and 'We're Aching', the highlight of the album. 'Say Something Stupid' has the kind of chorus that Abba would reform for, and the whole album is decorated with stunningly emotive vocals that in turn soar and bite. Back in their day, Baby Chaos were encumbered with a Brit: rock tag and the lads were quite right in changing' their name. But now, with no such hindrance, there's no reason why Deckard can't make a few waves. Ones to watch.
